Ten Reasons Why Owning CD Music Is Better Than Just Downloading Digital

Abbyroad While I do believe that downloading digital music is more convenient and certainly more immediate (I enjoy the convenience often myself), I feel that the long term benefits of owning the hard CD as a master are far better. I download the trendy popular singles from artists that are one hit wonders. Otherwise I prefer to own the entire CD as a master. Here's my Top Ten List:

  1. The sound quality is much better especially heard in the low end on certain AAC files.
  2. The selection of titles is far superior on CD. Rarities are in good supply.
  3. You own the CD as an archive back-up copy for re-ripping. Most people don't back up their computer files like you do. Especially the ladies.
  4. You can buy used CD’s. They are cheaper, sold on-line and are typically in great condition. Bonus: You can find used Cd's at a garage sale too.
  5. Your music is not tied to your computer. Play the CD in your car or at a friend’s tricked out bachelor pad. He loves the ladies.
  6. You don’t need to panic if your iPod dies. Yes iPods do die, just ask Apple.
  7. Most people are not computer savvy like you. Downloading digital music is a foreign language.
  8. You're not limited by digital rights management. Rip, burn, playback and share your music as much as you like. (record labels hate this part)
  9. You get to enjoy the CD art and packaging. Hold it in your hands for long hours.
  10. You can buy the entire Beatle's collection digitally re-mastered on CD. Yes!

"You're more likely to impress people with the size of your CD library than you will with massive gigabytes of music stored on your hard drive. Especially the ladies."

    • Every year I look forward to the month of April knowing that I will once again be able to hear the songs of spring. The whispered melodies that the flowers sing as they burst with colors reaching up to the open sky.
