I don't drink Starbucks coffee. If I said that, I would be lying. Actually, I don't drink Starbucks coffee as my daily grind. I choose two other brilliant local Seattle roasters that make a delicious latte. But when I'm traveling it's my coffee of choice. Here's the rub when it comes to the Starbucks brand. I get what I'm expecting and I can get it duplicated in thousands of locations nationwide with no surprises. It feels like home and I need that. I experience far too many unexpected events when I travel. Can I just have my
coffee how I like it? Is that asking too much? It's not too much for
that mermaid, that's what she does. News Flash! It's a chain!
Starbucks is consistent in it's delivery of a simple grande latte (at least most of the time). I'm even a card carrying member. A card I can reload on-line before I travel. On my recent L.A. trip I had a grande latte someplace other than Starbucks three out of five days. I was disappointed big time hoping for a better cup the next day as I played latte roulette. The roast tasted burnt or just tasted too strong. The other two days I found a Starbucks and that latte delivered by being perfectly the same as what I would get in New York, Denver or Seattle. Next week I am traveling to Minneapolis. I will be hunting down a Starbucks closest to my hotel. No surprises please. I'll get all the surprises I can handle from the airlines closest to boarding time. What's your daily grind?
